How We Help

Step 1 – At Made To Order Websites, we make sure that we…

A:: Understand your ultimate goals and…

B:: Are the best company to help you meet those goals.

Most of our clients have goals that fall into 4 broad categories:

  • branding

  • leads

  • sales

  • pure information

Of course our projects are limited to these categories, but they do represent the core of what most companies are looking to do online. When you interface with us, you are interfacing with real people who try to avoid geek-speak at all times.  This makes it easier for you to express what you are looking for and it makes it easier for us to communicate back what the realistic expectations are with respect to what can be achieved with the given timeline and budget.

Usually, we charge little to nothing to meet over the telephone or during an initial visit.  During this time, as we evaluate what we are trying to accomplish, we will begin to (literally) draw out an architecture plan for whatever you are trying to accomplish.  By the end of our first meeting, we may wind up with a chicken-scratch sheet of white paper with arrows pointing to boxes, stick figures, and Facebook.  But rest assured, that’s the number way to stay on the same page and also save a LOT of money by avoiding having to go back and re-do a plan because it wasn’t architected right in the first place.

We have offices in Nashville, Louisville, and Costa Rica with full-time developers in each of those cities.

Step 2 – We build whatever we need to build. From Designing, to Developing, to Hosting.

Once we have a plan in place, our developers get started.  All projects are broken into 3 categories:

  • Content management (such as copy-writing, file editing, simple web changes, article management, etc.).  We charge $35 per hour for these services.

  • Artistic design (such as Commercial Photography, graphic design, and illustration). We and our partners charge $65 per hour for these services.

  • Custom website development and programming. (Some products are flat-rate and others are $75 per hour).

Many times, the content manager, art designer, or programmer can act as a Project Manager for smaller jobs comprised of 20 hours or less.  Anything over that, and you are usually looking at needing a separate project manager to oversee the entire job.  Fees for project management are entire case-dependent, and usually 10 to 20% of the entire project cost.

Step 3 – We help get the word out.  Social Media, SEO, Link Building, Newsletters, Mobile Updates and more.

Once your project is complete, we will begin the process of generating visibility to your site. Most traffic will come from one of three places:  online search (Google, Yahoo, Bing), Pay-Per-Click, and your offline marketing.

With respect to search engines, there are two major forces in play (as of 2010-2011): quality links from around the web and search engine optimization.  Unfortunately, there is usually an expectation that a company can reach #1 in Google within a few weeks or even months for a given set of search terms.  This is simply not true. No company in the world can promise you this.  For instant traffic, Pay-Per-Click advertising was invented.

Starting around 2009-2010, social media (such as Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and Foursquare) has been instrumental in driving traffic and visibility to your brand. We provide three core types of Internet Marketing Services:

Step 4 – We help develop a method to track leads and convert them into repeat clients.

We work to ensure that our platform can integrate easily with custom lead management packages like Leadbanker and Salesforce.com.  For those of you just starting out, our lead-intake sheets and Leadbanker analysis product is a fantastic way to begin collecting lead data.

On the sales side, our Creative Tool Set platform has built in simple-shopping-cart functionality for 50 to 100 products and stores under $10,000 a month in revenue.  For larger stores, we can bolt on larger shopping cart solutions such as X-Cart. For order processing, our Creative Tool Set can interface with 2checkout, PayPal, and Chargify (three very simple outside merchant providers).  Of course, 3rd party commercial cart software can interface with most any merchant company in the world.

Finally, for pre or post ordering, we have simplified newsletter systems and we interface with MailChimp for those looking for an extremely powerful newsletter system.

Step 5 – We integrate analysis tools and help make sense out of what’s working and what’s not

We live and die “by the numbers.” As soon as we begin Steps 3 to 4, we immediately begin step 5 within a day or two.  We help you identify which metrics and ratios are important for your site as well as how to generate them.

Common Metrics include:

  • Page Views

  • Unique Visitors

  • Bounce Rate

  • Lead Source

  • Keyword Ranking.

Common Ratios include:

  • Page Views Per Visitor

  • CTR (Click-Through-Ratio) for your ads as well as your on-page promotions

  • CPC (Cost Per Click)

  • Visitor to Purchase Ratio (how many people came to your site and actually purchased something)

You can review the common tools that use at our Analysis and Analytics Tools Page.

We repeat this process over and over (and over and over).  And over again.

Once this entire process is in motion, things will need to be adjusted from time to time.  That “awesome idea that Joe had” won’t work.  10 out of 11 of your headlines won’t attract vistors.  Only 1/100th of your visitors will purchase and convert.  This is reality. It’s only based on our ability together to review the analysis and re-adjust goals that you can be certain that you are on the right path to efficiency and profitability.
